Default is this game any good?

hi, am looking for a knew mmorpg. ive played warhammer, d2, 2moons and jsut about every free mmorpg there is. (never played wow though)

this one looks pretty nice, ive tried the 10 hr trial. i had some questions though;

the skill bar is pretty small- only fits 8 skills, is there a way to switch to another skillbar or something?

is there pk zones? do you get exp or anything for pk/pvping?

and all round is it a good game? any features unique from other mmorpgs? thx

Game any good? Let's put it this way, a lot of people I know have logged on and found something to do almost every day over the past 4 years. Not everyone will get that level of enjoyment out of the game, a lot of friends have also only played for 6 months then wandered off. But you are getting a *lot* for your money, especially if you pick up the Trilogy pack. Still, it's a quality 6 months.

You wont get more than 8 skill slots. The idea is you find a working build within those 8 skills. You have to carefully pick 8 skills to do the task you set out to do. There are of course plenty of resources like this website or wikis to find effective builds.

You can't go around randomly PKing people, no. There's a huge PvP zone / island with various types of PvP of various party sizes. For example, you and 3 randomly picked people vs 4 randomly picked people. You in a pre-picked team of 4 vs a team of pre-selected 4 people. 8 vs 8 doing scenarios that revolve around "kill the other side" and a bunch more.

You do get experience for killing people however the attraction of PvP is that you earn faction, which can then be used to unlock more skills on PvP characters. You can PvP on a PvE character, but when getting started, you'll generally find greater flexibility in a PvP only character.

You will generally want to find a good guild to hang around in if you want the full MMO experience. Pugging is dying out because Heroes (customisable henchman) can often be smarter than the average random.

As for unique features, the fact it's instanced and no-one can nab your loot / get your kill is pretty unique.

I'd recommend reading the wiki ( http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page ) to get some insight of features + uniqueness of the game. That could say it better than I could I think.

Hope that helps answer some of ya questions

you get a lot of options on things to do. Unfortunately the community isnt that friendly unless its some weirdos either arguing about something in a town about politics or people transforming themselves screaming obscenities.

You will find people really friendly if you join their guild but most of the game the players put their own restrictions to outcast newer players. But if your main thing is story you should have no problem running into people to do missions with.

Trilogy would be best. It's $30 at GoGamer and which game you start in really matters. I found Nightfall to be the best to start in.

If they allowed for more than 8 skills then the game would be horribly imbalanced. Plus skills have do with fingers. Having 8 skills kinda forces everybody to work together.

No. That goes against what Guild Wars really is about. While you can get XP, most XP isn't really that important since the maximum level is so low. The faction you get (two kinds, balthazar, and alliance faction), are what PvP is used for mainly.

don't take this is the wrong way, but why do people ask if it's good on a guild wars forum? that's almost like asking Kraft, "Do you make good food?"... of course they'll say yes, and posting this question in a forum like this will net you similar responses.

GW is good, and cheap
you can buy GW on steam to atm, but full pack with all the games for 30 dollars is nice to.
if you get the full pack you can pick an campain where to start.
prophecies is slow, and nice for beginners.
if you want it faster take factions or nightfall.
factions is the fastest campain to finish i think.
if you read some stuff on wiki, and join a guild that will help you out the speed is not a problem i think.
i started with factions to
